BAND-AID DRIVE Starts Monday, August 27

Ready to help a young patient with cancer? The Children's Oncology Unit at Florida Hospital cares for many children diagnosed
with cancer. Many of these young patients require frequent injections as part of their treatment. After their injection
the patient picks a "character" band-aid to cover the injection site. This can range from Spiderman to Sponge Bob
Square Pants!
The unit is only provided with "plain" non-character band-aids by the hospital and is running out of the character
band-aids which many patients see as a meaningful reward for their bravery during treatment. We want to help!
The Academy has sponsored "Band-Aid" drives in years past. We collected over 50,000 band-aids in one year alone
and delivered them to Florida Hospital.
Starting Monday, August 27 we are starting the band-aid drive and want to top 50,000!! You are being asked to bring in
character, or colorful band-aids to donate to these young patients. Each health science teacher will collect the band-aids
in their classroom. The drive will continue until September 24. Let's set a new record!!
What a simple way to make a difference in someone's life.
